STAR Site Coordinator Responsibilities • Keep secure • Train examiners (use sign-in sheet) • Obtain all necessary signed test security agreements and keep on file at site (to be forwarded to district after window closes) • Inventory materials and track daily movement of testing materials • Keep secure

Site Coordinators Train Examiners • Distribute test materials to correct students • Be very careful with similar names – check date of birth • Make sure students code correct End of Course (EOC) math • Make sure students code correct test version when applicable • Follow Directions for Administration (DFA) • Read “Say” boxes exactly as written • Students MAY NOT go back to previous parts of test

  13. Who Takes Which CST for Mathematics? • Grades 2-6: Grade-level test required • Grade7: Grade 7 math test or Algebra 1 required • Grades 8: One of the following is required: • EOC CST for Mathematics; or • CST for General Mathematics

  15. CMA Tests for 2011 • Multiple-choice • ELA grades 3-8 • CMA for Writing in grade 4 & 7 • Math grades 3-7 • CMA for Algebra 1 (EOC for grades 7 and 8) Science grades 5 & 8

Who Takes CMA? • Students: • Have an IEP • Meet the SBE-adopted eligibility criteria • Enrolled in grades 3-8 • May take CMA for some subjects, CST for other subjects • Must take grade-level CSTs when a CMA is not offered • May have previously taken CMA, regardless of score • Not eligible to take CAPA • IEP specifies CMA and subject(s) • No modifications

STS - RLA, Math • Reading Language Arts (RLA) in grades 2-8 • Mathematics in grades 2-7 • Algebra 1 (EOC for grades 7-8) • If Algebra 1 course completed in 09-10 school year • Geometry (EOC for grade 8) • If Geometry course completed in 09-10 school year Students in grade 8 who are not taking Algebra 1 or Geometry courses take NO STS math, but do take CST math.

Who takes STS? • Required for Spanish-speaking English learners (ELs), grades 2-8, who either: • Receive instruction in Spanish; or • Have been enrolled in a school in the U.S. less than 12 cumulative months. • STS not to be administered to English-only, I-FEP, or R-FEP students • Students also take CST or CMA

  23. Distribution of Test Materials to Examiners • CST, CMS, STS day of test only • Secure DFA (grade 2) day of testing • Non-secure DFA (grades 3-8) may be prior to test day • CAPA – at least 5 days before testing

Before Multiple-Choice Testing – Answer Documents • Use 2010 answer documents only • Do NOT copy answer documents • Complete Sections 8 and 9 if not in Pre-ID • Make sure that students mark only one circle in Section 8. • Make sure students mark at least one circle in Section 9. • If NPS student not in Pre-ID, write NPS code in Section 13(NOT 0000001)

  26. During Testing • Correct test to students • Report • Any irregularities or administrative errors to district coordinator immediately; with a follow-up in writing. The only time you may bubble in something in A1 is if CDE advises the district coordinator to do so. • Handle Defective Booklets • Manage Emergency Situations • Monitor the Test Administration • Track all irregularities and administrative errors

  32. CAPAObservers • Districts must double rate at a minimum of ten percent (10%) of the CAPA students per level / per site • Double ratings are randomly selected • Observers must markObserver and sign the answer document

  33. Preparing to Administer the CAPA Observers must mark sections 1 - Name, etc. 3 - Date of Birth 5 - Name 6 - Gender 7a - CAPA Level 7b - Grade 11 - Student ID 12 - SSID

  34. After Testing • Transcribe braille and large print (or not processed) • Write VOID on any answer document(s), with marks, not to be scored; return with nonscorables

  35. After TestingMaster File Sheets • Return with each school • Required: • Write “0” (zero), no blanks • If not tested, note that school did not test

  36. After TestingPack and Return • Return all documents within an administration in same shipment • Separate scorables (with SGID) from nonscorables • Return Home/Hospital with student’s school NOT NPS

  37. Numbering Box Labels • Immediately after packing boxes for shipping, the site coordinator completes school site information on each LABEL, including "SCH: BOX __ of __" information. This is the only area sites complete for box count. DO NOT WRITE ON BOX.

  39. When to Return Materials • Site must have all materials packed per directions in manual, in original boxes, labels numbered properly, and ready for pick up by warehouse first thing Monday morning, May 16. If ready for pick-up prior to Monday call Kathleen ext 380.

  40. After Testing Send to Ed Services by May 20: • All Security Affidavits • Any Parent Exemptions Requests • Copy of Training Sign-in Sheet • Copy of Master File Sheet • Completed STAR School/Test Site Data Collection Form • Inventory Records
