State Transportation Innovation Council Incentive • Tasks • 3 – Development of Training to Facilitate Implementation of Innovations • MODULE 1 – Automated Traffic Signal Performance Measures (2hr) • MODULE 2 – Use of Crowdsourcing to Advance Operations (2hr) • MODULE 3 – Getting your Agency Workforce Ready for Innovations (4hr) • Focus on findings from Task 1 including a map of the necessary skills to manage and operate the infrastructure of smart cities, data management principles, fundamental knowledge on communications, DSRC devices, and/or additional informational technology topics to be determined.
Traffic Signal Asset Management Systems (TSAMS) • Objectives • Help smaller local agencies catalog traffic signal infrastructure using a web-based database. • Help local agencies document maintenance activities. • Provide TDOT the state-of-the-practice of traffic signal infrastructure in Tennessee. • Tasks • Determine agencies’ current practices; • Develop the web-based database; • Pilot a local agency; • Inventory repository; • Training, outreach and assistance.
Accelerating Safety Activities Program (ASAP) • Objective • Provide information on the use of the Leading • Pedestrian Interval in locations where crosswalk • pedestrian traffic is in conflict with right-turning • vehicular traffic. • Provide informational material on the importance of proper timing of the Clearance Intervals. • Tasks • Hold 5 training sessions throughout the State (3hr) • Develop and distribute printed material on educational info (600 double sided colored informational card for LPI and for CI); • Develop video content for educational material.
