Delivery Group Operational Update
Future U Ambassadors • We now have 68 ambassadors recruited following the 2nd round recruitment in January. • We have ambassadors from 7 partner institutions. • Right to work checks completed and awaiting DBS clearance. Partners to support students with obtaining their DBS. • Current round of recruitment still open until 23rd March for undergraduate online mentor positions. Can be extended to after Easter. • Further training for new online mentors will be arranged for mid April
Brightside Online mentoring • 30 student ambassadors from the existing pool have now undertaken online mentor training, which will enable us to offer support to around 100 year 12 NCOP mentees from April. • Further recruitment of online mentors to help increase mentee numbers to 150-180. • Brightside keen to make contact with partners to discuss support with developing the Yr 12 programme offer, including mentee briefings. • Discussion group to focus on the recruitment of year 12 mentees.
iCan Mentoring • Our first iCandelivery is almost complete at Walton le Dale High School, with 31 NCOP pupils engaged. • School keen to run a second cohort in summer term. • iCan also being delivered in Accrington Academy and due to start in summer term at Our Ladys Queen of Peace, Skelmersdale and Our Lady and St John in Blackburn • Windmills delivered an iCan twilight session for partners and are keen to meet with partners.
Year 10 Business Project Mentoring • STEMFirst has completed the development of resources for our Year 10 Business Project mentoring offer, with delivery from May, initially in 3 schools in Pennine area, then rolling out wider. • The Business Project will link Year 10 students with Career mentors who guide them through a series of weekly sessions, where they choose, design and complete a project aligned with their personal skills and strengths. The programme will last 6 weeks. • Students can choose from a range of projects to get engaged in. These will reflect the LEP priority areas and will be on the following themes: Digital Technology Health Leisure & Fitness, Tourism/Visitor attraction Marketing and Sales Engineering and Design
HS2 Collaborative Engineering Project – Fast Trackers Collaborative programme with Manchester Higher and Higher Horizons • Delivery of three engaging and where possible hands on interventions. The three elements are: • Looking for 50 NCOP students from our partner institutions., students on a Level 3 engineering/ construction pathway. • Colleges would be responsible for identifying students, providing 2 support staff, delivering an in house HEi visit and supporting students on all visits. • Future U/Mark Waters will support transport, deliver a Liverpool Uni visit, arrange employer visits and arrange accommodation and lead activities/ visits in London, arrange celebration event • NEED PARTNERS TO CONFIRM INTEREST SO WE CAN SET UP MEETING WITH MARK WATERS
