  5. IN LEFT COLUMN: EXPOSITION RIGHT COLUMN: INTRODUCES CHARACTERS AND SETTING SETS THE MOOD, TONE, AND ATMOSPHERE

  6. IN LEFT COLUMN: RISING ACTION RIGHT COLUMN: THE MAIN CONFLICT UNFOLDS, BUILDS SUSPENSE AND RAISES QUESTIONS, STORY(PLOT) BEGINS TO DEVELOP

  10. Complications • Moments in the RISING ACTION of the story that have an impact on the central conflict. • Complications are things that get in the way of the main character’s ability to solve the central conflict. • Complications build TENSION in the story.

  11. TURN TO A CLEAN PAGE & COPY THE CHART ON THE NEXT SLIDE

  12. AFTER COPYING THE CHART PLEASE WORK WITH THE STUDENTS IN YOUR ROW AND COMPLETE THE CHART USING “Raymond’s Run”PLOT
