Teacher Resources • This activity takes about 22 minutes • You will need to divide your class into groups of 4-6 • Each group will need • Piece of paper per person • Compass • Rulers • Scissors • Blue pencil • Lead Pencils
Can your group survive? • Working in groups you need to use the resources available to ensure your survival • You will have only 20 minutes (before you freeze to death) to make at least: • 1 igloo per person in the group • 1 poncho per person in the group • 4 blue-eyed fish per person in the group • There will be 2 minutes planning time • Products must be made to specification to be counted
Igloo – 1 per person in the group 2 minutes to plan 20 minutes to produce Blue-eyed fish – 4 per person in the group Poncho – 1 per person in the group
Debrief ... • Why did you or did you not survive? • Generalise the problem you were trying to solve • Suggest ways that the output you managed to produce could be distributed between your group members • Describe 5 ways you could improve or increase production if you were to repeat the exercise
