SISTEMA ABO * Sistema proposto, em 1900, pelo austríaco Landsteiner, classificando o grupo sangüíneo segundo a polialelia do sistema ABO, considerando a relação entre os pares dos alelos: IA, IB e i, em quatro grupos: grupo A, grupo B, grupo AB e grupo O. * Por análise desse sistema, as hemácias humanas podem apresentar em sua membrana plasmática moléculas denominadas aglutinógenos ou aglutinogênios, sintetizadas pelos alelos IA (aglutinógeno A) e IB (aglutinógeno B). Além disso, observou-se, ainda, a ocorrência de anticorpos do tipo aglutininas (Anti-A, e Anti-B) no plasma sanguíneo.
