Muon Shutdown meeting January 24, 2011 Burkhard Schmidt
Work done in week 3 (January 17-21) • Chamber replacement: • At the end we decided not to replace GEM 17-A2 on the C-side. Interestingly, the high current on one of the GEMs disappeared (after we took this decision). • Chamber testing: • All replaced chambers have been tested successfully. However, the connectivity software is not yet working as it used to work. • Chamber conditioning: • Work on A-side has been finally completed. May thanks to Oleg! • Nacelles and M2-M5 closing: • Muon nacelles on the A-side have been removed. The tower has been closed (up to ~30 cm) to allow HCAL people start the maintenance work there. • The relay problem for the control electronics is understood and fixed. • M1 closing: • Closing test has been done successfully on Friday. However, we noticed that the station is lower by couple of mm with respect to the beam-pipe. This can have several reasons: Beam-pipe might have moved, ECAL and HCAL open, M1 might have moved. Before touching it, we need a survey.
Plans for week 4 (January 24-28) • M1 final closing and survey: • Closing scheduled for tomorrow, survey for Wednesday. Dates to be confirmed tomorrow. • M2-M5 closing: • M2-M5 closing test and closing scheduled for Wednesday, survey for Thursday. • Chamber conditioning: • Start work on C-side today. We have nearly 3 weeks – but no access to the chambers any longer. Utmost care is needed!
Pending issues • Threshold scan: • Compare threshold scan between pit and lab for some chambers. May be Davide can help us. • HV settings: • Lower HV by about 50V on some regions. • System testing: • New ODE software: • Should be installed by next week, not later • Full system test: • Should be done ion the week of February 7
