  3. Early Life In 1785 Zachary and his family moved to Kentucky and grew up on the plantation in Jefferson Country.

  4. Family Life • His parents are Richard & Sarah Taylor • Has five brothers & three sisters • four brothers went to the military • Parents came from wealthy families

  5. School • There were no schools • Studied with tutors and parents

  6. Family Life • Married Margret Mackall Smith • She was born in Calvert Country, Maryland • Had six children no pets • Five girls one boy • Two girls died very young
