Directors Pitch

The plot of my music video revolves around a forbidden love story. It starts with a couple excited to meet up, but their relationship is unknown to one of their fathers. When the father finds out and splits them up, the couple plans to meet secretly the next day. The video explores themes of romance, rebellion, escapism, and generational homophobia. The overall message aims to spread awareness about the effects of homophobia on young couples.

  2. Plot • The plot of my music video is that of a forbidden love story. It starts of as a couple excited to meet up and spend time together. Archie wakes up and gets ready. He greets his father in the kitchen, who is unaware of the Gay relationship his son is in. once George arrives at Archies house and knocks on the door his dad gains suspicion. This suspicion is confirmed when Archie and George proceed to hug. Outraged, Archie's father splits up the hug, kicks out George and sends Archie to his room. Both members of the relationship are upset and archie tells George he will sneak out to see him the next day. Archie then goes to sleep and enters a romantic dream of the couple of what he wishes to do the next day. Archie wakes up and sneaks out to George who is waiting outside. They get in his car and go to a nearby lake. They begin to have a good time at the lake and enjoy each others company.

  3. Themes • Romance • Rebellion • Escapism • Generational Homophobia • The overall message is that of a forbidden romance, the idea of the video was to spread the message of homophobia through generations and the effects it has on young couples.

  4. Previous ideas • My previous idea was a revenge story. It contained 2 characters, one being a dad who recently lost his daughter to drugs, the other being the man who sold those drugs but is now a born again Christian. The idea would be an entire chase scene that ends in forgiveness.

  5. Characters • Archie- part of the relationship and rebellious love couple. The use of a male couple with go against Romance Genre conventions. The characters will be wearing normal clothes and will not converse to stereotypical conventions of a gay man. • George- Part of the couple and he will bee dressed in normal clothes for a person of the age he is playing. He plays a 17 year old man and he is eager to enjoy his first love. • Father- middle aged, Homophobic father who is unaware of his sons (Archie's) sexuality. Disgusted when he discovers his sons relationship he bans them from seeing eachother.

  6. Location • The main location is at Archie's house and his bedroom. • Another main location is in George’s car , they enjoy a music scene in the car • The final and dream sequence location is at a small lake in Sulby

  7. Mise En Scene • Props- Phone, Teddy Bear, Bed, Car. • Costumes- Typical teenage boy costumes Fathr wears a hat to show he is not part of the relationship • No Diegetic sound • Lighting- all is black and white to show dramatics, the dream sequence is in colour to show escape from reality.
