Beliefs • Student learning is our chief priority • Given a variety of instructional strategies and assessments, all students, including special needs students, can achieve higher levels of academic success • Given a safe, supportive and challenging environment, students will be able to accept shared responsibility for their own academic achievement • Teachers, students, staff, parents, and community share in site-based decision-making which establishes and sustains a culture of respectful, self-directed, life-long learners • We will continue to follow a policy of research-based staff development to equip our faculty with the knowledge and skills necessary and assess student learning. Monitoring Process • How is data used by the School-wide PBIS Team to determine progress toward goals and Action Plan? • The PBIS Team will present Compstat Report out- SDIS at the Leadership meetings every 20-day period. • One presenter will be chosen from the PBIS (Discipline) committee to present data to the Leadership Team. School ProceduresSEE PARENT AND STUDENT HANDBOOK http://www.mcsk12.net/schools/btwashington.hs/site/resources.shtml Entering the Building • Students may enter the building beginning at 7:30AM • Students may enter the school building through the front doors (Lauderdale Street) entrance from 7:30 AM – 8:15 AM • Students may only go to the cafeteria or the atrium area before the bell rings at 8:00 AM • Students may enter building in appropriate school uniform only and come through the metal detectors. • Students are expected to be in their 1st block class by 8:15AM. • All students who arrive to school after 8:15AM should have a parent check them in school at the Georgia Ave entrance. Classroom consequences will be implemented during this time period. • The student must make arrangements to make up any missed assignment with the first block teacher. Revised 09/2014

School ProceduresSEE PARENT AND STUDENT HANDBOOK http://www.mcsk12.net/schools/btwashington.hs/site/resources.shtml Closing of School • Students must exit the building at 3:15 p.m. There is NO re-entry into the building once the students are dismissed. • Bus riders are dismissed at 3:10 p.m. • Teachers are to monitor the halls as students are leaving to ensure that students are safe and exiting the building. • If teachers/ students have after school activities, they are to exit the building and report to the gym. Students will be picked up from the gym by their sponsor and be escorted to the meeting location by the sponsor.

Teachers should not let students out of the room except in true emergencies. • If a student leaves class without permission, it warrants an immediate office referral. • Students should remain seated until the bell rings at the end of class. The teacher will dismiss the class – not the bell! • Students should not be allowed to leave AT ALL, for any reason, during the first 15 minutes and the last 15 minutes of each class period. • Students MUST have a hall pass at all times – NO EXCEPTIONS! (this includes taking attendance scanners). Revised 09/2014

Tier 2/Intervention Team (For Students with 2-5 Office Referrals) • Team members: School Counselor, administrator, appropriate instructional staff and behavior related personnel. • Will monitor group and targeted interventions such as group counseling • Evaluate outcomes of interventions and make adjustments for students Revised 09/2014

Intervention Strategies • Describe secondary interventions (Tier 2) for students who have been referred to the office 2 - 5 times, such as: • group counseling (the group will depend on the infraction) • Brief/simple behavior plans for repeated minor infractions and over 5 days out of school suspension (using BIM and other resources), • During meetings plans will be evaluated.
