  4. Why Become a Teacher? • It's fulfilling. You will be educating and shaping the development of a new generation. • It's life changing. Giving children the opportunity to develop and fulfill their aspirations will not only be rewarding for you but it will mean the world to others. • It's hard work. Outside the classroom teachers are expected to prepare lessons, mark their pupils' work and contribute to the running of the school, through meeting with and supporting the other staff. • It's fun. How many careers offer the chance to share in the enthusiasm and excitement of young people. Teaching offers a range of opportunities and benefits that are the envy of other professions the world over.

  5. Requirements for Becoming a Teacher • You must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Every teacher must have an academic major, as well as teacher training courses. • You must complete teacher training through an approved program. These programs are offered through colleges and universities, school districts, regional service centers, community colleges, and other entities. • You must successfully complete the appropriate teacher certification tests for the subject and grade level you wish to teach.

Education Requirements • A high school diploma or equivalent. • An Associate Degree, or its credit hour equivalent, a portion of which is in funeral service education. • Passing a state and/or national board licensing examination. • An internship or apprenticeship ranging from one to three years. • Many states require that funeral directors meet continuing education requirements to maintain licensure.

  27. Employment Information Funeral directors held about 32,000 jobs in 2000. Almost 1 in 5 were self-employed. Nearly all worked in the funeral service and crematory industry. Embalmers held about 7,200 jobs in 2000. Most funeral directors also are trained, licensed, and practicing embalmers. Little or no change is expected in overall employment through 2010. Employment of funeral directors is projected to increase more slowly than the average for all occupations as the number of deaths increase, spurring demand for funeral services. Employment of embalmers, however, is expected to decline slightly since most funeral directors also are trained, licensed, and practicing embalmers.

  30. Child Life Specialist There role is to try to normalize the child’s environment, relieve stress and anxiety, and promote the child’s normal growth and development. Children in the hospital still need to be kid, they still need to play, and they still need someone to explain what’s happening.
