  3. Program Goals •  Provide a broad understanding of the nature and impact of disasters on the natural, built and human environments

  4.  Form a basis for establishing strategies to effectively plan for disasters, mitigate the adverse effects of disasters, respond to disasters, and recover from disasters.

  5. Bachelors Degree in Interdisciplinary StudiesCollege of Arts and Sciences • Concentration: Disaster Science and Management • Hours: 37 hours (19 hours of core courses, and 18 hours of technical electives). • Status: Program under review by the Board of Regents (expected in early Fall, 2001).

The Minor is open to LSU undergraduates • Coursework: 19 hours (7 hours of courses, and 12 hours of technical electives). • Currently available to LSU students • Although the Minor is generally available to students of any major at LSU. Students outside the College of Arts and Sciences are required to get permission from their Dean.
