TV • Nearly all American households own a TV, most of them more than one • Four major broadcasters in the US are NBC, CBS, ABC and Fox • Cable TV offers some 500 channels (MTV, CNN, Cartoon Network...) • Very popular are talk shows (Jay Leno), competitions (The American Idol), sitcoms (Friends)

Radio and magazines • There are more than 9,000 radio stations in the USA • Most of them are commercial • Talk radio shows are popular, in which callers have a chance to express their opinions • The leading weekly magazines are Time and Newsweek • Time is well known for naming a "Person of the Year" each year • Besides, there are hundreds specialized magazines about sport, gardening, design…
