PBST Leadership Development Programme Another of the key recommendations that emerged from the staff consultation process was the provision of a Leadership Development Programme for teachers.
The Purpose of the Programme To promote leadership at all levels among teachers in PBST schools To encourage teachers to consider senior leadership positions in our schools To provide an insight into what senior school leadership really involves To whet the apetite of participants for further study (eg CLEO, UCC) To meet the need for a short leadership course identified during the consultation process with schools To provide an opportunity for teachers in various PBST schools to come together to share experiences To make the Trust more relevant to our teachers
Who is the programme for? Existing or aspiring school leaders at primary and second level: Deputy Principals Assistant Principals and Special Duties post-holders Year Heads and TY co-ordinators Class teachers and subject co-ordinators Those working in promoting student leadership in our schools Anyone with an interest in the theory and practice of school leadership
Structure of the programme 6 nights (7.00 – 10.00pm with a 30 minute break) From Wednesday 8th November to Wednesday 13th December incl. 3 elements will be covered each night: - An aspect of leadership - An element of the PBST Charter - An element of the competency-based appointments process Delivery will be by CEO and a number of invited presenters The programme will be certified by PBST (not externally certified)

Assessment Participants must attend all modules to be eligible for certification Participants will be required to complete a short evidence-based school-centred research project that explores some aspect of school leadership
Admission to the Programme Open to all permanent/CID teachers in PBST schools Twenty places per year (two/three per school + one for a DP) Application to be made by the candidate (Where there are more than two applicants per school, the decision on who will be offered a place will be made by the PBST Board of Directors) Fee: €150.00 €75.00 will be returned to the participant by the school’s BoM subject to full attendance at and successful completion of the programme
