  6. Time LimitsAfter School Project • Check In • Snack Bag baggy with permission slip, safety pin and Team #s clip on light, whistle, snacks • Intro, Agenda and instructions • Permission Slips Booths Team #s Safety Time Keeper • Run to High Ground Video Time keeper with Megaphone

  7. 5 BoothsEach booth had handouts including a bag for supplies Booth # 2 Get Ready with Freddy Video Family Plan and Shopping Booth # 3 Story Telling Earthquake Turtle Tale Booth # 1 DOH Disaster Reaction Booth # 5--Outside Police, Fire, EMS and Gator Rides Booth # 4 Fire Safety Video –inside & Fire Suppression--outside

  8. DOH Disaster Reaction Booth # 1 • Mental Health Professional (MRC Member) from SWB Feelings before, during and after a disaster or emergency Activities • Dept of Health Professional Brought & distributed educational materials Assisted in booth and any where needed

  13. Shelter in Place Demo Demonstrations included: Measuring and cutting plastic Sealing doors, windows, vents, electrical outlets Educational materials Window frame Video Adults kept disappearing; Watching kids put out fires And riding in the “gator”

Radio CERT Exercise Incident Command Chief Hart w/ Chief Souvenir Radio Exercise scheduled to last 30 minutes-Wind storm--damage to roof--debris --assessments done-IC assigning teams for rescue ops Kids listened to radio transmissions From Incident Command to Teams Kids watched the CERT Team in action—Parents, Relatives And Employees

  15. Drop, Cover and Hold • Used Police Siren Kids had Team Leader Forming groups CERT Team escorted kids along with other adults

  16. Evacuation • During CERT exercise: Recorded kids names and teams # for tracking Police officers marked Routes with signs: power Lines down, trees blocking road • Keep kids off main highway as much as possible

  17. Evacuation All kids were accounted for at assembly area before all clear was given

  18. All Clear Vans waiting to bring younger kids back to center Rainbow was a sign of a very successful event

  19. Hot Wash and Dinner • Kids Team Leaders • Favorite event—Putting out fires & gator rides • Needs improvement—at the “all clear” the kids took off running down the hill • Incident Command—Impressed by CERT Team Well organized event • Would have liked more time for exercise Kid Friendly Dinner Chicken Legs Corn on the cob Tater tots Salad Cookies
