Shelter in Place Demo Demonstrations included: Measuring and cutting plastic Sealing doors, windows, vents, electrical outlets Educational materials Window frame Video Adults kept disappearing; Watching kids put out fires And riding in the “gator”
Radio CERT Exercise Incident Command Chief Hart w/ Chief Souvenir Radio Exercise scheduled to last 30 minutes-Wind storm--damage to roof--debris --assessments done-IC assigning teams for rescue ops Kids listened to radio transmissions From Incident Command to Teams Kids watched the CERT Team in action—Parents, Relatives And Employees
Drop, Cover and Hold • Used Police Siren Kids had Team Leader Forming groups CERT Team escorted kids along with other adults
Evacuation • During CERT exercise: Recorded kids names and teams # for tracking Police officers marked Routes with signs: power Lines down, trees blocking road • Keep kids off main highway as much as possible
Evacuation All kids were accounted for at assembly area before all clear was given
All Clear Vans waiting to bring younger kids back to center Rainbow was a sign of a very successful event
Hot Wash and Dinner • Kids Team Leaders • Favorite event—Putting out fires & gator rides • Needs improvement—at the “all clear” the kids took off running down the hill • Incident Command—Impressed by CERT Team Well organized event • Would have liked more time for exercise Kid Friendly Dinner Chicken Legs Corn on the cob Tater tots Salad Cookies
