The Tundra. By: Allison J., Ryan A., Dylan W., and Nate H. There found in the northern hemisphere. Arctic Moss. They have 2 life stages. Is found on the bottom of the tundra lake beds in and around bogs and fens. They don’t have wood stems, they have tiny leaves usually only one cell thick.

  3. They have 2 life stages. Is found on the bottom of the tundra lake beds in and around bogs and fens. They don’t have wood stems, they have tiny leaves usually only one cell thick. Calliegon giganteum

  4. It has adapted to the cold climate There are a lot of leaves on the stems. The more leaves, the more they can photosynthesize Calliegon species cont.

  5. Diamond-Leaf Willow

  6. Salix Pulcha • The twigs on a willow are very soft • They can get up to 20 feet in height or just a few inches. • When the willow blooms it looks bumpy and fuzzy • The twigs on the willow are made into baskets b/c they bend easily

  7. FACTS There are about 2000 species. Plants get very little sunlight

  9. The Weather.. • The Tundra is extremely cold. • 15-25cm of yearly precipitation. • Avg. winter temp is -30 degrees Fahrenheit. • Avg. summer temp is 37-54 degrees Fahrenheit. • 6-10 week growing period.

  11. The Animals.. There are unique animals in the Tundra. Such of these animals are; Pikas, Marmots, Arctic Fox's, Ermines, Polar Bears, and Snowy Owls. These animals are neat looking and most of them you do not see often. Take your chance to see a Ermines today!

  14. Geography • The Alpine tundra is found in mountainous areas at such a high altitude that trees can’t grow

  15. The Artic tundra located in the far northern hemisphere. • Artic tundra is found in Canada, Alaska, etc.

  16. One-fifth of of the land on earths surface is tundra • A permanently frozen layer of subsoil exists called permafrost, this is made up of mostly gravel and finer materials
