  1. Evenals voorgaande jaren wordt het college in de vorm van een Short Course gegeven: Data: 21 t/m 25 mei Plaats: Huygens gebouw; collegezaal wordt nader bekend gemaakt. Tijden: 10.30 (precies) tot 12.15 uur en 13.00(precies) tot 15.30 uur Tentamen: Datum in nader overleg Thema: Chemistry in a Bio-based Economy De “vergroening” van de chemie vindt momenteel een vervolg op grote schaal door de grote belangstelling voor biomassa als een belangrijke energiedrager. De initiërende rol van de chemie in deze transitie zal besproken worden. De nadruk zal echter uitgaan naar de kansen en mogelijkheden voor de chemie in een wereldeconomie waarin biomassa, naast fossiele grondstoffen zoals olie en gas, een dominante rol speelt. Hedendaagse strategische en industriële ontwikkelingen alsmede academische beloftes zullen op hun merites en potentie worden bekeken. Nieuwe dilemma’s, zoals biomassa voor voedsel vs. energie zullen aan bod komen Het college is geschikt voor AIO-ers en ouderejaars chemie en moleculaire levenswetenschappen van alle specialismen.
