Know your Purpose • 13 But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. • 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. • 15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. • 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

We are not residents • 11Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul; • 12Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation. • 13Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; • 14Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well. • 15For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: • 16As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God. • 17Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king. 1 Peter 2:11-17

We are Heaven Bound • 13These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. • 14For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country. • 15And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned. • 16But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city. Hebrews 13:13-16

What does our TODAY look like? • It is estimated that there were over 50 000 000 orphans in Sub Saharan Africa in 2010 • 26000 children die each day in Africa from preventable diseases. • An International Monetary Fund (IMF) study conducted in September 2011 revealed that South Africa has the largest disparity in the world between rich and poor. • Africa and more specifically South Africa is at the epicenter of the HIV/Aids pandemic that is crippling the continent. • There are more teenage pregnancies in South Africa than any other country in the world. • South Africa has the 3rd highest percentage of unemployment in the world. The 1st and 2nd countries are both at war.

  13. Ask yourself….. • What is my God-given vision? • If I am not sure of my vision, what am I doing to discover it? • What am I doing to today to achieve that vision? • What sacrifices am I willing to make?

  14. Evidence of a Godly Vision • The vision leads to equipping others. • The vision glorifies God • The vision is focused on a better future • The vision defeats the devil • The vision advances the God’s Kingdom
