Piranha Press June 25, 2010 Vol. 3, No. 1 The Sully Station II Piranhas captured their first victory of the season with an exciting 225-173 win over South Run. It was a true team effort, as the Piranhas prevailed in 8 of 12 relays and swimmers bumped up one or two age groups to earn critical points. Six records fell during the meet, including a new mark of 1:18.14 by the 9-10 boys medley relay team of Flynn Crisci, Kellen Campbell, Brody Campbell, and Brantley Cervarich. Ten-year-old standout Flynn Crisci broke two individual records in the freestyle (34.79) and breaststroke (44.74). Eight-year old Faith Alston broke a record that stood for over a decade, touching the wall in the girls breaststroke in 22.59. Erin Schulte broke her own 15-18 girls breaststroke record in 38.12. Kellen Campbell shattered his own 9-10 boys backstroke record in 40.49, leading a sweep in that event with Brody Campbell (42.23) and Brantley Cervarich (44.54). Two other sweeps were completed in the meet, including 8&U boys breaststroke swimmers Aidan Crisci (26.03), Harrison Saint Germain (29.07) and Carson Saint Germain (29.66). Emily Cervarich led the 13-14 girls breaststroke sweep in 45.09, followed by 9 and 10-year-old teammates Hope Alston (57.05) and Kelly Elson (1:08.84). This was a prime example of the spirit and teamwork that helped the Piranhas secure the win. In addition to Flynn Crisci, double winners for the boys included Aidan Crisci in 8&U breast and free (18.50), Nicholas Campbell in 15-18 free (26.25) and back (30.01), Kellen Campbell in 9-10 back and fly (19.18), and Jack Jiang in 11-12 free (32.62) and fly (37.16). The girls were represented by double winners Faith Alston in 8&U breast and free (17.46) and Madisyn Graham in 13-14 free (30.07) and fly (34.11).
