Vietnam War • US intervened to stop the spread of communism into South Vietnam (Domino Theory). • Domino Theory – fear that if communists took South Vietnam the other countries of Southeast Asia would fall to communism.

End of Vietnam War • Ended in a cease-fire agreement in which US troops withdrew 1973 • 58,000 troops lost
