Emergency Services EMERGENCY SERVICES • Current Operations – • Transition to Charley Command • ESF 4/9: All mobile fire stations have arrived in the area and are being setup • The Department of Health, Department of Elder Affairs, and Agency for Health Care Administration is working on humanely and safely moving 105 special needs patients to alternate care facilities by Friday, 8/27/04 • Death count @ 27 • ESF 10 working on water testing in Charlotte Harbor and it’s tributaries; assist with wastewater • ESF 16 working on obtaining temporary police station for Hardee County; fulfilling all tasked missions and relieving workers • Unmet Needs – • Lack of staff for medical needs still an issue • Working towards transition to Charley Command • Future Operations – • Follow up in asset deployment status (CISD Teams / Crisis Counselors, Medical Professionals, DCHAT Teams, Strike Teams, Emergency Transports, Port-o-lets, Dumpsters • ESF 10: Support Charley Command; Monitor water quality in Charlotte Harbor. Human Services • Current Operations – • 17 Regular Shelters open with 855 occupants & 3 SNSs open with 139 • Relocation effort to close shelters and place remaining evacuee in to MHs & RVs to begin tomorrow morning • 46 canteens, 37 kitchens and 24 comfort stations in operation 8/25 AM • 1,510,000 meals served as of 2400 on 8-24-04 • 597 trucks of water (2.9 m) gals have been distributed. • 363 trucks of ice (14.5 m lbs) have been distributed. • 17 truck loads of food (631,000 meals) have been delivered to various sites. • 8 truck loads (42,086 cases) of baby food and formula have been distributed. Additional truckloads have been ordered for completion of mission and are just arriving now • 681,000+ MREs distributed • Cash donations -- www.volunteerflorida.org • Call Center activity significant decreasing (considering cut back hours) • Volunteer Florida has registered 4320 volunteers and groups of volunteers. • DeSoto, Seminole, Orange and Sarasota (2) have Volunteer Reception Centers open which when figures are complied will add significantly to total

Human Services • Current Operations – • Area command @ Bartow, FL. 25 Division of Animal Industry and USDA Veterinary Services personnel - performed over 570 site visits for damage assessment and animal issues. • Established four ESF 17 staging areas for animal feed/supply distribution/animal injury triage. • 15 truck loads of animal feed distributed • $50,000+ of donated veterinary medical supplies distributed • Soliciting donations of fencing material • 21 requests for mosquito spraying, will continue for 4 – 6 weeks ,$6+ million • Mobilized Code 3 Mobile Veterinary Medical Hospital staffed with 2 University of Florida, • College of Veterinary Medicine medical teams. • 22 person Veterinary Medical Assistance Team (VMAT) staged at Punta Gorda. • Florida Veterinary Medical Association volunteer list of veterinarians and AHT’s distributed to impacted county coordinators. • The Humane Society of the United States Southeast Region Office and County Animal Control Agencies mobilized 20+ teams supporting impacted counties for animal rescue, recovery, and shelter.

Human Services • Unmet Needs – • Identifying & meeting isolated situations & diapers • Long-term staffing issues. • Possibility exists that the RRC in Tampa will need to relocate by the end of the week. Alternatives are being sought possibly set up a multi-jurisdictional warehousing operation in several sites • Future Operations – • Continue to feed and supply operations as needed • Continue to monitor and resupply as needed. • Continue to register volunteers and donations. • Continue to match goods/services with identified needs. • Deploying ESF 15 personnel to the field. • FEIL Call Center will be relocating to "Call Center" thru Wed 9/1/04 Up next – Infrastructure
