Charles Darwin
The EMS to TMC transition was in response
to needed change, and a new beginning
TMC is to be an IEEE change agent for Engineering and Technology Management
The TMC Governance Documents have been designed to facilitate this objective.
17. Governance Documents Format

Newsletters
Quarterly e-zine; peer-reviewed articles
Mar 09 and Jun 09 issues released
Sep 09 issue in works
62. Critical Success Factors Initial financial support from Bangalore section ($400 for chapter setup)
Strong support from IEEE members from industry
Expert Talks have been a good draw (~40 attendees on an average)
Newsletter has been very well-received and has helped create high awareness about TMC
PDMA India co-hosted event was a great idea
63. Challenges Faced Lack of dedicated / dues-paid membership unlike other society chapters
IEEE is still perceived as a ‘techie’ organization; low interest in ‘management’ topics
Very difficult to organize free talks (min $250+ per talk); still exploring sponsorship ideas
Bangalore already has enough events (IEEE, PMI, NASSCOM, TiE, ACM, IET, etc.) that create event overlaps and / or event fatigue
64. Future Plans Expert Talks
Explore co-hosted events with PDMA, PMI, ACM and other professional bodies
Workshops
Workshop for Women Managers with WiE (early idea)
Explore workshops on Innovation and Technology Management
Conferences
International / National conference in 2010
