  4. Course Policies: Grades and RaiderWriter • Your work will be graded by a grading group. • Your work will be anonymous. • All work must be submitted by 11:59:59 on the day listed on the online syllabus (usually Friday). • RaiderWriter automatically deducts 10 points per day if your work is late. • Check each assignment to make sure it was submitted! • If you think technical difficulties will prevent you from submitting, you should email a copy of the assignment to me before the deadline.

  7. Course Policies: Protesting a Grade • Send me an email explaining the reason(s) you are protesting your grade. These should be SPECIFIC and professionally presented. • Sunday is the day I will review grade protests. You can expect a response to any protest you have submitted by midnight Saturday. • After I have reviewed your work, I will either email you or set up a meeting with you to discuss your protest. • Whatever grade I assign your paper is the final grade. • You must send the email to protest your grade within one week of receiving the grade. • You may not protest a grade on any assignment you submit BEFORE we cover the corresponding lesson in class.

Course Policies: Assistance • University Writing Center Room 175 • Office Hours or Email • 2 Assignment Look-Overs: • 1) You must submit the document in .docx or .doc format. • 2) THIS DOES NOT GUARANTEE YOU A HIGHER GRADE. • 3) I will primarily be looking at your thesis sentence, your organization, and your source use, but you can ask for specific assistance. • 4) If you are asking for feedback on a Brief Assignment (BA), you should submit it to me 24 hours before you need a response. • 5) If you are asking for feedback on a Draft, you should submit it to me three days before you need a response.

  9. Course Policies: Attendance • You can miss up to two classes without penalty. After that, 5% of your total grade is deducted per absence. • Notify me in advance about excused absences whenever possible. Make sure you tell me your name. • If you miss signing the sign-in sheet at the beginning of class, it is your responsibility to stay after class and let me know that you are present. • If you are over 15 minutes late to class or if you leave more than 20 minutes early, it will count as an absence.

  10. Course Policies: Attendance • Excused absences are generally limited to illness (with a doctor’s note) and school functions (with official documentation). You must provide documentation for school functions AHEAD of time. • You may only make up missed work for excused tardies or absences. • See the course policies for more information.

  11. Course Policies: Professionalism • Treat everyone in the room (including yourself) with respect. • Bring your supplies to class, do the assigned reading and homework, and be prepared to participate. • Maintain a professional tone in email and writing concerns.

  12. Course Policies: Academic Dishonesty • Cheating (including re-using your own work) • Plagiarism • Academic dishonesty will result in a 0 for the assignment, among other possible consequences as outlined in the First-Year Writing textbook.
