Blitzkrieg Blitzkrieg means lightning war and that’s exactly what Germany intended! The strategy of these attacks was so fast and powerful that they were almost unstoppable. The strategy was to first attack by sending tanks called panzers blazing ahead. As this was happening, diver bombers would cover the panzers. Then the artillery would crush the pockets of infantry or other units left. After all of these brutal attacks, the Nazi’s would send infantry to finish up and kill those still alive. Vail, John. Later at the end of the war, he was convicted of war crimes and was executed for these terrible acts. Spangenburg and Moser, Ray and Kit. The Crime of Genocide. Medical Experiments The Nazi’s did many gruesome medical experiments on the Jewish people. The doctors used flesh cut from their corpses to grow bacteria. They would also inject pigments into their eyes to make them change colors. Nazi doctors wanted to learn more about the human body, so they dissected the people. They would also sterilize them. They liked to test how long people could live after shooting them, depriving them of food and water and exposing them to freezing temperatures. Schutzstaffel (SS) Hilter was a targeted man by many people. He knew this, so he created the Stabswache or headquarter guard. The group later changed it’s name to the Schutzstaffel (SS). Zyklon-B Zyklon-B was a poisonous gas used in WWII; however, it was first used in Auschwitz. In just over a year, it killed over 550,000-600,00 people. It only took a few minutes to take affect. The doctors who created it said that it killed a person so fast that he/she wouldn’t have convulsions. The gas paralyzed the person’s lungs so that they could not breathe at all. This gas was extremely poisonous and was used throughout Nazi Germany and in the death camps. Roleff, Tamara. The Holocaust Death Camps. San Diego: Greenhaven Press, Inc., 2002.
