  11. ECTS - European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System Workload which students have to master in order to complete a study programme successfully Workload consits of: time spent for lectures, seminars, independent study, preparation for and participation in examinations, as well as the (weekly) contact hours spent in courses with teachers The ECTS system proposes that average students reach 30 credits per semester and 60 credits per year.

  12. ECTS - European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System The ECTS system proposes that average students reach 30 credits per semester and 60 credits per year. 1 credit corresponds to 25 real time hours (60 minutes/hour; 1 SH corresponds to 45 minutes): contact hours and self-study

  13. ECTS Lectures: 1 contact hour (SH) ~ 1.5 - 2 credits Example: 1 contact hour = 2 credits 2 credits = 50 real time hours 1 contact hour = 10. 5 real time hours self study = 39.5 real time hours [per lecture unit (45 min) 2.5 hours self study]

  14. ECTS Introductory Seminars and Seminars: 1 contact hour (SH) ~ 0.5 - 1 credit Example: 3 contact hours = 3 credits 3 credits = 75 real time hours 3 contact hours = 31. 5 real time hours self study = 43.5 real time hours [per seminar unit (3x45 min) 3 hours self study]
