punishment • The state took out prisoners sometimes depending on what they did and hung them until they are half dead.
punishment • After they got hung to the point were they were almost dead they would take them down and their members and bowels are cut from their bodies, and thrown into a fire while they are still alive.
punishment • If someone wasconvicted of wilful murder, done either upon pretended malice or in any notable robbery, he is either hanged alive in chains near the place where the crimewas committed (or else upon compassion taken, first strangled with a rope), and so continueth till his bones consume to nothing.

Most common crimes • The most common crimes were theft, stolenpurses, begging, poaching, adultery, debtors, forgers, and fraud. Theft for stealing anything over 5 pence resulted in hanging.
