Spring Release 2013 - School Census Summer 2013: Eligible for FSM • Country of UK: • Records for all UK Countries are included in the Return • Only UK Country of blank or England are relevant for FSM Every 6 aspect of Pupil Premium • So it is important for schools to check the indication of another UK country like Wales is correct, as such FSM records will be ignored for Pupil Premium
Spring Release 2013 - School Census Summer 2013: Attendance • 4 Year Olds: • Attendance is collected for 4 year olds in the same way as it is for older pupils, but the DfE is actually only interested in whether they are present or absent for each of the relevant sessions • Therefore, there is no need for schools to collect reason for absence for 4 year olds
Spring Release 2013 - School Census Summer 2013: Removed/Replaced • Removed: • Pupil Disability • Replaced: • Eligible for FSM on Census day has been replaced by Eligible for FSM records • Connexions Assent replaced by Youth Support Services Agreement
Spring Release 2013 - School Census Summer 2013: Hours for Early Years • One Panel in School Census and one route in SIMS: • Dividing the entry of Early Years Hours by age groups was helpful for earlier Censuses, but is no longer helpful as SEN is now also relevant to cohorts • We now provide a single panel in Census and as single route in SIMS and these include columns and filters for relevant factors
Spring Release 2013 - School Census Summer 2013: Details Reports • Eligibility for Free School Meals: • Free School Meal Eligibility report is new to the Summer Census
Spring Release 2013 - School Census Summer 2013: Details Reports • Absentees: • Absentees report is designed to reflect the DfE view on persistent absence in the Census Return - fewer absences used to indicate persistent absence
Spring Release 2013 - School Census Summer 2013: Reasons for Including Leavers • Leavers are including if one or more of the following historical items are available for the pupil: • Attendance • Exclusions • Bursary • Eligibility for FSM: • Eligibility records are included for leavers, but it is not a reason for including a leaver as leavers do not attract Pupil Premium • NB: If a pupil transfers from one school to another during the collection period the new school should make sure they report any FSM eligibility in the collection period, even where it is a period before they arrived at that school, otherwise they could miss out on Pupil Premium
