  3. Before our meeting… • Coordinator-of-the-week has to prepare and study the TOEFL Speaking Test materials in advance. • Each one of the other group members has to read a piece of news from The New York Times.

  4. During our meeting… • Coordinator : Lead the whole discussion • Other group members: Summarize the news stories we have chosen Practice the TOEFL iBT Speaking questions: • Type A--Independent Tasks • Type B--Integrated Tasks (Reading and Listening) • Type C--Integrated Tasks (Listening)

  5. Reflections • Benefits of group study (i) different angle of motivation (ii) kind consultant (iii) vivid interaction with real people • Learn how to give a one-minute talk with good organization and content.
