What is a Family? “A family consists of people who consider themselves related by blood, marriage, or adoption.”
The Nuclear Family • The nuclear familyis composed of a cohabiting man and woman who maintain a socially approved sexual relationship and have at least one child. • Nuclear Family- One Woman, Man, and Children • In the traditional nuclear family, the wife also works in the home without pay while the husband works outside the home for money.
Polygamy- adding one or more female spouses to the household. Polyandry-adding one or more male spouses to the household.
