  8. Example 3 for Outlining One of the most widely used methods of note taking – the outline – is preferred by many students because its format follows specific structure and is concise. Notes taken in this manner are well organized and easily remembered.

  10. Example 4 There are three reasons for learning to take good notes. First, note taking helps you pay attention. While you are writing, you are concentrating, and your mind wanders less. You stay with the subject. Second, note taking helps you remember. In their book, Note Taking Made Easy, Judi Kesselman-Turkel and Franklynn Peterson state that note taking is a muscle activity, and that our muscles remember better than our heads. They give as an example a sixty eight year old man who climbed on a bike for the first time in forty years and after a few shaky starts, was able to ride off down to the corner. Third, note taking helps you organize ideas. You learn to start out and write down the main points and sub-points in an organized fashion.

  13. Example 5 - Listing Everyone needs to make decisions in their lives. The term economy refers to how people and governments make decisions about how to earn and spend money. An economy involves a system of needs and wants. Needs are things that people must have to continue living like water, shelter, and heat. Wants are things people desire but could live without. They are there to make life more enjoyable. Wants include new cars, electronics and designer clothes.

A market system is a system in which households and business owners make their own choices about earning and spending. People make decisions as private citizens rather than as part of a public group or government. There are at least four important freedoms in a market system. They include freedom to own property, freedom to buy, freedom to produce and sell, and freedom to work.
