Helping Complete the Puzzle By: Chance Meeks Wade Hall Marissa McDaniel
Purpose • The purpose of our project is to help raise people’s awareness about people with disabilities physical and mental. • This project will help people understand the difficulties of being mentally challenged that these people face in the real world.
Evidence of the Problem • Approximately 257,167,527 people have a disability in America(Census.gov, year) • The number of people with disabilities keep rising higher each year(Census.gov, year) • Kentucky makes up 23.7% of the total disability population(Census.gov, year)
The Need • People with disabilities need more places to socialize and meet other people with disabilities. • People in the world need to learn about the difficulties and challenges mentally challenged people face.
The Need Continued • Recommended projects: • Raise money in a walk-a-thon, a read-a-thon, or a hop-a-thon. • Then give the money to a place that helps people who are disabled (PBSkids.org).
Proposed Solution • We would like to hold a fundraiser that will inform people about people with disabilities and hopefully inspire them to help by donating, volunteering, etc. • People will also be able to donate wile at the fundraiser and get to meet and get to know people with disabilities who are present at the fundraiser.
Our Goal • The goal of our project is to raise awareness, money, and donations for disabilities, and all the money will go to Puzzle Pieces to help the disabled children of our community that they help.
Project Summary • First, get grant money. • Then, hold a fundraiser where people will listen to a seminar and read pamphlets to help learn about people with disabilities and the challenges they face. • Next people will have time to donate money and supplies and meet and socialize with the mentally disabled. • Second to last, people will get interviewed to see what they’ve leaned to see if we accomplished our goal. • Finally, give all the donated supplies to puzzle pieces.
Objective 1 • Our first objective is to hold a fundraiser and inform the public about disabilities • Their will be speeches given and pamphlets to inform the public about the challenges disabled people face in the regular world • Everybody will be able to ask any question they want at any given time
Objective 2 • Our 2nd objective is to raise about $1000 to give to the Puzzle Pieces foundation. • This money will go to helping build an area where disabled people can go and play, meet, and chat other people with disabilities • We will have an area where people can donate money and supplies to help the puzzle pieces foundation.
Outcomes and Evaluation • To find out how many people we educated we will interview people after the fundraiser to see how much people learned. • This will let us know if we met our goal and if we helped in the part of letting people find out the challenges disabled people face evryday.
Outcomes and Evaluation • To find out the money we raised we will take and count the money. • Hopefully people will make a difference and donate as much as they can so we can reach our goal of $1000. • This will help us find out if we can build the area where the disabled people can go and meet with others.
Available Resources • The available resources we have will be: • Popcorn • Bottled Water • Pepsi • Sprite • Bags for Popcorn • Paper for Brochures • Napkins • LSA Students • Area for fundraiser to be held
