Attendance • School Day: • 7:45 AM Students are expected to be in the building • 2:45 PM Dismissal/End of school day • Partial Absences/Tardies: Students that arrive after 7:45 a.m. or check out before 2:45 p.m. (Only a doctor’s note can excuse a tardy. Please ask your doctor for this for all student appointments during the school day). • Excused Absences: Students that have a written note in the front office stating the reason for the absence with a cause that is acceptable to the principal. The note must be received within three (3) school days of the absence upon return of the student. • Unexcused Absences: A voluntary absence that has not been excused. • Returning to School: When your student returns to school, you must send a written note with them indicating the reason for the absence.

School Visitor Sign-In Procedure • All schools in PISD are using the Raptor sign-in system to ensure student safety. This system enables schools to run a check on all visitors through a national database. • Who will be required to use this system? • Parents, visitors, volunteers and contractors • What do I need to do when I get to school? • You will need to present a valid state-issued photo • ID to be scanned in the system. You will be • issued a photo badge to wear while at school. • How often will I need to do this procedure? • Each time you visit Bethany you will be required • to present your ID.
Positive Behavior Support(Respectful, Responsible, & Ready to Learn)
Discipline When students are in violation of school rules, we view this as an opportunity to teach appropriate behavior. • Interventions may include but are not limited to… • Student/Teacher Conversations • Student Reflection and goal setting • Behavior Infraction • Parent/Teacher Conferences • Teacher Detentions • ISS • OSS

Planners • Planners: Students will have planners signed each evening by a parent/guardian. Each teacher will initial planners at the end of each day and will check for parent signature each morning.
Homework Expectations: • Homework Policy: It is expected that all students will: • Spend 15 minutes each evening reading • Spend 15 minutes each evening practicing math facts • Additional extra practice may be determined to • be necessary by the homeroom teacher.
Clothing/Dress Code • All students should dress modestly each school day as at all school/district events. • Students who are referred to the office for dress code violations will be given an alternate form of clothing to wear for the remainder of the school day. • Repeated dress code violations may result in disciplinary action.
Reading & Language Arts
Telecommunications/Cell Phone Guidelines • Cell phones may be used before school and after school dismissal. • Students are prohibited from using or activating any cell phone, paging, or texting device during the school day. • Students are asked to turn cell phones to “off” and put away during the school day. • If a student uses such a device, leaves the device turned on, or displays the device inside the building during the school day, the device may be confiscated. • 1st offense-return to student and notification to parent • 2nd offense-return to student and notification to parent that they will have to pick up the devise on the 3rd offense. • 3rd offense and beyond-parent must pick up the device.
Dismissal • Students are dismissed at 2:45 PM. • Day Care: to the gym to wait for day care bus • Carpool: front of the building • Students line up with teachers until their carpool is called to one of five stations: A-E • Walkers: back of building from grade level pods and exit to playground • Changes made only if parent sends a note to teacher or calls the front office • ***Older siblings join youngest sibling
