  2. What is Cyber Bullying? • Cyber bullying" is when a child, preteen or teen is tormented, threatened, ect.. Once adults become involved, it is plain and simple cyber-harassment or cyber stalking. Ms. Valley's Library Media Class

  3. Notes • SMS & Cyber Bullying • Bullies are now using text technology to harass their victims. Text harassment is a crime and it should always be. Ms. Valley's Library Media Class

  4. Notes • If you are getting SMS, it’s easy to stop it on your handset for a while. If it’s extreme, like you are getting threatening or mean phone calls you can change your telephone number. Ms. Valley's Library Media Class

  5. Internet Problems- • Don’t give out your cell phone number over the Internet, because it can be used to get information about you. • Once you hand someone your number, you can’t get it back. Ms. Valley's Library Media Class

  6. Notes • There are two kinds of cyber bullying, direct attacks and cyber bullying. Because cyber bullying often gets adults involved in the harassment, it is much more dangerous. Ms. Valley's Library Media Class

  7. How to Prevent Cyber Bullying • Preventing cyber bullying - • Educating the kids about the consequences (losing their ISP or IM accounts) helps. Teaching them to respect others and to take a stand against bullying of all kinds helps too. Ms. Valley's Library Media Class

  8. Information that is Safe to Share • Only share information that won’t hurt you. You need to be very careful of what you tell people. Ms. Valley's Library Media Class

  9. Private information- Do not Share • Don’t tell people things that can come back at you (things you don’t want other people to know, family and friends). Ms. Valley's Library Media Class

  10. What Can Someone do if he or she is being Cyber Bullied? • Education can help prevent cyber bullying. We need to teach the cyber bullies not to ignore the pain of others. Ms. Valley's Library Media Class
