  3. Campus Security • Greg Perez, Mike Rocha, Kyle Palow • School Resource Officer– Investigator Frank Ramirez - Anaheim Police Department - He is available as a resource to help you. If you would like to talk to him see me or your counselor and we can have him come to school to talk to you.

  5. How to See Your Counselor You are welcome to come by before school/after school/break/lunch, HOWEVER the counselors are extremely busy and have on and off-campus meetings, parent conferences, etc. on a regular basis. They will not know you are looking for them unless you leave a request. Red forms are available in the front of the Counseling Office. Please fill one out and leave it for the counselor in the bin outside their door.

  6. Parking • Must display permit, on inside mirror • Main Campus Only (hours if park on West) • Can be towed (Tuesday is street sweeping) • No cul-de-sac parking – Post Street • Parking permits can be purchased in the Finance Office for $20 • Faculty lot and staff spots in student parking lot are off limits

  7. Cell Phone Policy • Students may use their phones before school/after school/break/lunch, page 34 of the student handbook. • Phones MAY NOT be used during class time, even if you are going to the restroom. This means bell-to-bell. Your phone cannot be taken out even to check the time, etc. CONSEQUENCES FOR CELL PHONE VIOLATIONS WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED. DON’T ABUSE IT!

  8. Student Handbook • STUDENT HANDBOOK CAN BE FOUND ON THE ESPERANZA WEBSITE. You signed the Code of Conduct that states you have read the rules of the school. • http://www.esperanzahs.net/ • Go to the “Student tab” then use the drop down and select Student Handbook.

  9. Saturday School and Hours • Saturday Study program 8:30-12:30 * Can reschedule ONCE per semester. Get forms from Mrs. Dupont in the Attendance. They must be signed by you and a parent. * If you do not attend hours you will be placed on a hold list and unable to purchase dance tickets or attend other school’s dances. You may lose your lunch pass, parking permit, and/or work permit. Seniors may also lose senior activities including walking at graduation.

Major Discipline Issues • Drugs/Drug Paraphernalia (Use, possession, or sales) • Alcohol • Weapons/Explosives/Dangerous Objects • Fighting/Threats/Bullying • Defiance or Disruption of School Activities (including ongoing misconduct) • Vandalism All are subject to a three to five day suspension, Site Guidance Meeting, School transfer, and Expulsion. The School Resource Office (Anaheim Police Dept.) WILL BE involved. * Items found in your car, locker, etc. are considered to be in your possession. Please read about Search and Seizure in Student Handbook (page 24). Suspicion is all that’s need to search.

Other Discipline Issues • Use or Possession of Tobacco Products (including E-cigarettes, Vapor Pens, etc.) • Consequences will be given • May be required to attend a smoking cessation class • Campus Misconduct (horseplay, food throwing, out of bounds) • Will receive hours • If issues are ongoing may be asked to permanently vacate your lunch table • Please respect our campus • Academic Honesty – updated policy this year Teacher consequences AND office consequences May be suspended Read policy on page 22

Bullying Report Bullying • Cyber-bullying (growing problem Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat) • School Resource Officer WILL be involved • Save all documentation and don’t retaliate • Remember what you write is not PRIVATE! • Resources available • Counselor/Teacher/Campus Supervisor/SRO • Text-a-tip

Text-a-Tip • Program to report bullying or other issues that impact student or campus safety • NOT a 24-hour hotline • Tips will be responded to by the next school day • Texts are CONFIDENTIAL but not ANONYMOUS • For emergencies including concerns of suicide, etc. please call 911 immediately! (657) 229-0EHS (0347) HELP US MAINTAIN A SAFE SCHOOL! IF EHS IS SAFE, YOU ARE SAFE

  14. Closed Campus/Lunch Passes • You MAY NOT leave campus without an off-campus pass. If you do you will be marked TRUANT. • Even if you have a free period on your schedule, you are unable to leave without an off-campus. • Only 9th graders on Freshman Focus campus at break and lunch.

  15. Out Of Bounds • ALL PARKING LOTS • KELLOGG DRIVE • FIELDS • RACQUETBALL COURTS • TENNIS COURTS • BETWEEN 200 BLDG AND NEW GYM • IN THE 200 BUILDING DURING LUNCH ****NOTE**** You are not allowed on middle school campuses during their school day.

  16. The Bridge • Main Campus to West Campus – use bridge • West Campus to Main Campus – use crosswalk • You must use the bridge before school and after school as well unless you have a bridge pass. From 7:45 am to 8:00 am and 2:45 pm to 3:00 pm the crosswalk may not be used.

  17. Attendance • Absences MUST be cleared by parent phone call or note within 48 hours or they will be changed to a TRUANCY. • Only absences with a doctor’s note DON’T count toward your total absences. Interventions begin at your 10th absence. • No such thing as “excused tardies”, no need to bring a note. • Read the Attendance Policies in Student Handbook very carefully (pages 25).

  18. Emergency Plan Where to evacuate if there is an emergency: • In class= follow your teacher. • At break/lunch/passing period= 3rd period teacher • If on Freshmen Focus Campus and your 3rd period is on Main, stand by Main Campus sign on field. • If on Main Campus and your 3rd period is on Freshmen Focus, stand by F.F. sign on Main.

  19. Dress Code • Read entire policy pages 31-32 of Student Handbook • Specific concerns with this year’s styles: - TOO SHORT SHORTS - stomach showing – low cut tops - bra/bandeau/undergarments showing in deep cut tank tops, shirts - t-shirt dresses - see through leggings/yoga pants - shirts, backpacks, hats, etc. with weapons, alcohol, tobacco or anything inappropriate for school

  23. Arrival to Dance • There will be NO admission into the dance 1 hour after the start of the dance. • If you arrive late there will be no refund given.

  24. Some Specific Dancing Rules • No MOSHING!!!! • No straddling legs • No bending over • No front to back touching/ grinding • No making out (no overt and/or prolonged PDA’s) • Both feet must stay on the floor • Hands on waist or shoulders only • No inappropriate gestures • No crowd surfing, getting on someone’s shoulders, etc.

  25. Dancing Violation Policy • 2 strikes = you’re OUT! • 1st warning: your wristband will be removed. • 2nd warning (no wristband): you will be removed from the dance • This goes for MORP, Homecoming, Sadie Hawkins, Prom, Last Chance Dance.

Community Service • 40 hrs GRADUATION REQUIREMENT • Must be done by May of senior year • Must have 30 hours completed to get a lunch pass as a senior • Must fill out forms within 30 days of completing hours. Forms in Attendance Office. • Non-profit organization, can’t get paid • Community Service Board in Attendance Office if you need ideas

  27. Aztec Pride • Keep the campus clean and safe • Be respectful to teachers and custodians • STRICT consequences for leaving trash and throwing food • Keep it classy! • Win and lose with honor and respect

  28. Aztec Spirit • Spirit section expectations • “The Hut” at football games • “ Sixth Man” at basketball games • Spirit of the Aztec awards • Football game vs. YLHS--Friday, Oct 14th • College Thursdays – wear college gear • Clash of the Classes – first Friday of every month

Spirit Bus to YL Game…Fri, Oct 14th • In front of Gym from 5 - 6:15pm (Bus leaves at 6:15pm, bus returns after game) (Must return on the bus) (first come first serve: max 115) (must buy game ticket at same time $3 w/ASB, $8 w/out ASB) (Last day of sales: Thurs, Oct 13th at lunch) • $10 includes: • Hot dog/chips dinner • Round Trip Bus Ride • Face Paint • Water AVOID THE CRAZY PARKING LOT!!!

Important Dates • Friday, Sept 9th: MORP (7-10p) $25 at door • Wednesday, Sept 14th: ID card picture make ups • Wednesday, Sept 14th: Back to School Night • Oct 3rd- Oct 13th: Can Food Drive vs. YLHS • Fri, Oct 14th: Football vs. YLHS • Friday, Oct 28th: Homecoming Dance (8-11p) • Friday, March 17th : Sadies (8-11p) • Friday, June 2nd: Last Chance Dance (8-10p)
