TLE Requirements for Evaluation of Certified Personnel • SB 207 (Signed into Law April 8, 2013) • Removes deadlines and changes the frequency of teacher evaluations. (Was once prior to November 15 and once prior to February 10 of each year; amends to once during the fall semester and once during the spring semester. Adds provision that career teachers receiving a "superior" or "highly effective" rating may be evaluated once every two (2) years. • Per Negotiated Agreement: Every probationary teacher shall receive formative feedback from the evaluation process at least two times per year, once during the fall semester prior to November 30, and once during the spring semester prior to April 1. All teachers shall be evaluated once prior to April 1, except for career teachers receiving a “Superior” or “Highly Effective” rating under the TLE who may be evaluated once every two years. REFER TO MARZANO’S “THE ART AND SCIENCE OF TEACHING” FOR THE CRITERIA FOR TEACHING.

Tips for Effective Classroom Management • Set tone for class by using a bell ringer • Post the agenda for the day – Learning Goal(s) • Build rapport with students • Greet them • Laugh with them • Take an interest in their lives • Use Positive Reinforcement
Classroom Management • Communicate Expectations • Stay Consistent • Follow Procedures • Warning/student conference • Parent Contact • Student Detention • Referral to Office • Keep your cool – you are the adult
Supervision/Security • Please make every effort to be in the hallways during passing periods • Never leave your class unattended during class • Make sure your classroom door is locked • Please help check exterior doors to make sure they are locked and free of debris (please alert the administration of any thing that looks suspicious)
Duty • Duty will be in pairs (you are responsible for your duty please cover in advance when possible with another staff member.) • AM Parking Lot 7:45 - 7:58 Be visible in the parking lot, greet students and encourage them to come inside upon arrival. • Commons Duty 7:45 – 7:58 and 12:43 – 12:50 Be visible in commons area, encourage students to get to class on time.
Duty • Lunch Duty 12:15 – 12:45 Be up and visible in the Lunch Room, encourage students to pick up their trash. • Teacher on the West side leaves at 12:43 and reports to the band hall to make sure students discard any left over trash as they enter the building. • Teacher on the East side releases students at 12:43 and stays until all students have left the cafeteria.
Duty • Bus Duty 2:45 until all buses leave campusBe visible in bus loop, keep students out of the path of the buses, keep those who ride on the curb under the over hang. • PM Parking Lot Duty 2:45 – 3:00 Be visible in parking lot, instruct those who loiter to leave campus. (please report any problems in the parking lot to the Administration)
Dress Code • Dress professional • Student hair color policy has changed. • Watch for student dress violations and advise the student or let the office know of the problem.
Cell Phone • Allowed before, after school outside of building • Allowed during lunch in Cafeteria only • If a student does not comply with your request write them up … Don’t waste your time getting into a confrontation with them!
