Language Structure • The passive sentence • ① involving the modal auxiliary have to • infinitive + to + be + done • modal auxiliary + be done • ② converted from the active sentence with a direct and an indirect object . • ③ involving the verb phrase / phrasal verb . • ④ formed by the They say / It is said … patterns
Introduce the main teaching points • by reading to the students a short paragraph and then helping the to change the into the passive , where possible • by reading another short passage to the students and asking them some questions on it
Sample questions : • Is it expected that space stations will be built in the near future ? • How will space stations be assembled ? • Are the parts of a space station small or big ? why ? • Why has a radio to be attached to the space station ?

Reading One • Questions : • Where was the birthday gift bought ? • What was the problem with the jumper ? • Why did the author go to London with her friends ? • What happened when the author left the store ? • What was the author accused of ? • How did the author prove that she was innocent ? • What would have happened to the author had it not been a clear –act case ? • What was it that the author was most unhappy about this store ?

3). accuse • ~ sb ( of sth ) , say that sb has done wrong 指控 • ~ sb of cheating • accusatory adj. of or indicating an accusation 指控的,谴责的 • the accused ( pl unchanged ) person charged in a criminal case 刑事被告
4). demand • ask for ( sth ) as if one is commanding or as if one has a right to do so 要求,请求(某事物) • ~ an apology from sb 要求某人道歉 • The workers are demanding better pay . • 工人要求提高工资。 • She demanded to know my business . • 她过问我的事情。 • He demands that he be told every thing . • 他要求将一切告诉他。

7). receipt • A written acknowledgment that a specified article, sum of money, or shipment of merchandise has been received 证据:表明证实某具体物件、钱款或商业货物已接到的书面证据 • After I paid the money, the shop assistant gave me a receipt. • 我付过钱之后,店员便给了我一张发票。
