The Battle with Grendel’s Mother • As we read about this battle, look for evidence of the following: • IMAGERY—different types (put THREE examples of specific imagery types on the back of the handout I’ve given you). • KENNINGS • ALLITERATION • The contrast between the pagan poem and the influence of the Christian monk who wrote the poem down.

  5. HOMEWORK • Complete the Imagery handout. • Work on the Study Guide Questions for “The Battle with Grendel’s Mother.”
