What is Title 1? • Title 1 is a federally funded education program that provides additional support to designated schools. At Piedmont, Title 1 funding enables us to purchase a wide variety of technology and supplemental programs and provide additional learning opportunities such as intercession. Most importantly, we are able to hire several additional staff members. Students take this assessment online in May. Students score either 1, 2, 3, or 4, the goal being to score a 3 or 4. • Math Inventory (MI) – 2nd – 5th grade. This assessment is administered three times/year by the Title 1 Math team to assess student’s current math levels and measure their progress over the course of the year. • DIBELS – K-3rd grade students take DIBELS three times/year to assess student reading ability and monitor progress over the course of the year.
Important Annual Title 1 Documents • Parent Involvement Policy and School-Parent-Student Compact – This year’s parent involvement policy and School-Parent- Student Compact were reviewed at the July 17th PTO meeting. These documents are available on the school’s website for review and feedback is encouraged. Once revision is complete, the policy and compact will be sent home and the compact must be signed and returned as soon as possible. • Parents Right to Know- At any time during the school year, parents have the right to request timely information on the professional qualifications of their children’s classroom teachers. This notification will be sent home during the first week of school and is in our school calendar.
Strategic Plan The strategic plan is created for administrators, teachers, parents, and stakeholders to review student data and make goals based off of identified areas of need. The data and these goals are reviewed annually. They will be reviewed next August 7, at the LSIC meeting at 7:30 am. Please join us in reviewing and creating this important plan.
