High Level Goals • Long term goals • A committed and dedicated stakeholders who want to be involved in STEM (Government and Businesses) • A MoU from Department of Basic Education and Science and Technology • To be the only recognized organization in South Africa for science fair competition • To make it compulsory for all schools to participate – include into curriculum • To encourage learners to be involved in research projects • Embed EBL into pre service training at universities • Short term goals • Establish a bank of mentors to assist students • Increase the number schools and participants at regional level • Expand pool of SRC members for continuity of quality • Recognition from government and media • Training of inservice teachers
Objectives • How will you know you succeeded? • Increase in Board of Directors (sponsors) • Written commitment from stakeholders • To be acknowledged as the only official science fair by the Minister of Science and Technology • Department of Basic Education incorporates inquiry base research into curriculum • Please list the results you want to see • By 2012 we should have an established mentor system • At regional level a 10 % increase of participants • An increase in the number of schools by 10% per annum • Higher standard of projects at regional and national • Written recognition by the Department of Basic Education to teachers and regional coordinators
