Women’s Kimono The women’s kimono is a unique way of dressing in Japan. It goes back to the Nara period over 1,000 years ago. The purpose of a kimono was to be able to wear a piece of art.
Rock Gardens These rock gardens are considered an art in Japan they are still used today. Sometimes it takes years to find a rocks to use in these gardens. They are gently raked into a design and then the rocks are placed. They are used for meditation and relaxation.
Tea Ceremonies • The tea ceremony came from China. It is a ceremony where you can relax by drinking some hot green tea. It was influenced by the Zen Buddhism. The tea house is usually surrounded with a Japanese garden. They also drink the tea with sweets.
Japanese Food • Japanese food includes rice,noodles,fish and soya. The main dish is sushi, sushi are served in many different ways: like in Nigiri, Gunkan, Norimak, Tamaki, Oshikushi, Inari, and Chikashi.
Sumo Wrestling • Japanese Sumo Wrestling is one of the most famous sports in all of Japan. It is a traditional sport. It lasts about a full minute. They sprinkle salt on to the wrestling ring.It was adopted in all the country in the Nara era(710-796).
Is Japan a copycat (adopter) of Chinese culture or does it have it’s own unique culture? My decision is that Japan has it’s own unique culture . Japan has it’s own culture that include many things as sports, religion,clothing, and food. The main religion in Japan is the teachings of Shinto. It was predicted to be established around 300 before JC-300 and later arrived to Korea. Another example of Japanese culture is a kimono. Both man and women can wear it and is made with cotton and other fine material. It is considered an art and very popular it was worn back to 1,000 years ago in the Nara period.
Reflection We learned many things during this project. We learned how to use the powerpoint. We learned that Japan didn’t copy China’s Culture. It is unique in it’s own way.
