Past: early November we reviewed the Implementation Plan process as well as Outcomes 4 & 6
End of November: On Keystone website • DE Self-study and Implementation Handbook • Revised Working Plan
What is New? • Rubric/Self-Study Format • Action Components placed on Working Plan
Outcome 1 • Action1.a.1
Placing Action Components on the Working Plan leads District to Activities Column
Tips Learned from Experiences • If district last spring completed Column “Next Steps” on Consensus Form, that info can be placed in Activities Column to begin discussions • Use LCD projector • Put PLAN on screen/wall • One person responsible for keying
Tips Learned from Experiences • Conversations may be lengthy • Periodically at new meetings, review what was previously written • Think of school improvement for sake of students, not just compliance • Note deadlines p. 4 of Handbook • Think of long term, deliberate processes
Table Conversations • Discuss progress in your district • Share helpful tips
Review • Self-study is baseline • Baseline results lead to PLAN actions • Work toward growth along the Rubric • Self-study will periodically be used for progress monitoring
Process • District clear vision for ICC; keep vision in front of all groups • How is district keeping all stakeholders informed? • Collection/reporting should be continuous and serve as determining needs for each outcome • AEA staff are prepared to meet with PLAN committee
Process • Current initiatives may be part of PLAN • Initial PLAN will address ALL Outcomes and Targets/Actions, delayed dates will be used • Self-study results & evidence frame the activities/resources, desired progress in the PLAN • Periodic re-evaluation • Periodic information to staff and stakeholders
Activities/Resources • What will be done? • Could an outsider understand? • Specificity assists in measuring progress • May include research, planning, development, communications, etc. – focus on forward movement with school improvement
Evidence of Progress • Describe evidence/data that shows progress • Extension of self-study data • Consider charting progress • Original evidence is baseline • May include student data, data on staff engagement and implementation, documents, artifacts, parent and community involvement • Establish DLT dates for progress review, benchmarks for completion
Actual Implementation of the Plan • How will delivery of actions be assured? • How will on-going support be provided to staff? • How will district monitor teacher implementation? • How will data be collected and organized? • How will modifications and adjustments be made? (More in depth in the spring)
District ICC Professional Development Plans for 2010-2011 • Keystone staff working with districts on THE PLAN will assist district with ICC and related initiatives PD planning for next year. • Keystone recommends those specific PD plans be in place also by May 1
What Should a District Be Doing NOW in terms of ICC? • Developing clear vision for ICC • Developing Implementation Plan • Communicating process and PLAN to staff • Begin Planning for 2010-2011 ICC PD using IPDM • Provide ECS Multi-Pass opportunities for staff • Have a clear picture of local Enacted Curriculum
What Should a District plan for PD for 2010-2011? • Look at THE PLAN for direction • Acquire knowledge on Alignment Practices • Engage in Alignment Processes and tools • Recognize definitions and attributes of characteristics of effective instruction • Connect existing initiatives/programs and the CORE
