Cabled Products • T1 - A term for a digital carrier facility used to transmit a DS1 formatted digital signal at 1.544 Mbps. It is primarily used in the United States & Canada. • E1 - A wideband digital interface operating at 2.048 Mbps, as defined by the ITU recommendations G.703 and G.704. Generally available outside North America. • DS-3, the signal in the T-3 carrier, carries a multiple of 28 DS1 signals or 672 DS0s or 44.736 Mbps • E3 - carries 16 E1 signals with a data rate of 34.368 Mbps
Cabled Products... • ATM - form of cell switching intended to carry a variety of data traffic, referred to cell relay or fast packet switching. Runs as a layer on top of SONET as well as on top of other technologies. • SONET - Synchronous Optical NETwork. Includes a set of signal rate multiples for transmitting digital signals on optical fiber. The base rate (OC-1) is 51.84 Mbps.
