  7. Architecture • Constructionoftemples, theaters, stadiums... Marble was the raw material and columns were the main construction element of Greek temples. • The constructions presented: • - Harmony; • - Proportion; • - Balance; • - Order. • Architectonic orders: • - Doric order; • - Ionic order; • - Corinthian order.

  8. Sculpture The main theme is human figure. There is the preoccupation in representing the ideal of human beauty and the movement idea is made with great realism. Fídias was the main sculptor in Athens. Others were Policleto, Myron and Praxiteles.

  9. Painting The knowledge we have of Greek paintings comes from vases of ceramic and tomb walls. Themes: • Mythological scenes; • Daily life.

  10. N Roman Empire • Beginning of the imperial regime on 27 bC to 476 AD; • Rome conquered Greece by arms, but Greece conquered the Roman Empire with its culture. • Classic art was spread by the Romans in the territories around the Mediterranean sea.
