  5. Five Themes of Geography. • Location • Place • Human/Environment interaction • Movement • Regions

  6. Location • Serves as a starting point by asking “Where is it?” • Knowing location helps you develop an awareness of the world around you. • Examples:

  7. Place • Describes characteristics of geographic location. • Physical characteristics such as landforms, climate, plant and animal life. • Human characteristics such as language or way of life.

  8. Human/Environment Interaction • How people interact with their environment. • Boundary lines • Where people settle • Interaction with wildlife

  9. Movement • Continual spreading of people, ideas and goods.

  10. Regions • Regions are places that are united by one or more common characteristics.
