Setting up a National LLL Network – Lessons learned (1) • Constitution: • it took several years of work • must have ‘champions’ driving the cause • must have an international perspective • must work with the National Rectors’ Conference • must work with the National Authorities • Activities, results and achievement: • importance of recognising the necessity of self-funding • aim to satisfy the partner institutions’ needs and expectations • a non-profit association proved to be advantageous • Difficulties, obstacles: • complicated legislation and bureaucracy • heavy administrative burden of legal and formal requirements Dr Anikó Kálmán EULLearN TTG B Leader
Setting up a National LLL Network – Lessons learned (2) • Advantages: • national co-operation • easier access to good practice from colleagues in partner countries • quickly recognised by National Authorities as a qualified interlocutor • can influence national LLL and Adult Education legislation • helps accession countries to adapt to Europe • exchange of experience • common benefit, trust and credibility • creation of common strategies • quality management in LLL • builds up a „social capital” network of involved people who respect each-other and are ready to work together in spite of existing competition between HE institutions Dr Anikó Kálmán EULLearN TTG B Leader
