ABOUT THE PROGRAMME The programme was developed by Slovenian Institute for Adult Education Duration: 120 hours Implementation: once a week(4 hours) Marjana Egredzija
Main areas of education in “My Step”: Improvement of Basic Skills and competence Improvement of Social Skills Lifelong Learning Active Citizenship Marjana Egredzija
Target group: The programme is designed for adults with special needs, who have completed or dropped educational programmes with adapted implementation. These are persons who: are not able to include in labour market, are not able to participate in professional training due to their handicap and need of assistance in care and protection, with speech and language disorders, physical disabilities etc. Marjana Egredzija
AdultEducation Centre Jesenice in cooperationwith VDC Radovljica VDC is implementing services regarding SAFETY, GUIDENCE and EMPLOYMENT UNDER SPECIAL CONDITIONSfor adults with mental and physical development disorders. Their services include: SOCIAL CARE EMPLOYMENTS EDUCATION AND LITERACY Marjana Egredzija

During their education, people with special needs were facing different problems: Inability to read and understand short instructions and messages rapid decline in concentration and motivation when confronted with things they don’t understand – need for specific teaching approaches VERBAL UNDERSTANDING IS SUFFICIENT their expressing is difficult and unsatisfying, sometimes disrespectful they are committed to work and conscientious; they like routine Marjana Egredzija

Options for people with special needs Adult education centre VDC and similar institutions • Employment and integration into the community – maintaining of motor skills • care for personal hygiene, dressing, eating, living etc. • Professionally qualified staff. • Quality education. • Public-approved education programmes. • Flexibility. • Quality arranged and adjusted class-rooms.
