Needs Assessment: This instructional online tutorial on improving Project Management will provide the Leadership Skills current and potential Project Managers with the opportunity to acquire new skills using (SBN) Small Business Network. Upon completion of training and promotion to management they will be able to immediately use those skills to better serve the clients and the company.

  3. Needs Assessment: • The Project Managers need the ability to understand the requirements of each managed project . Including installation limits,(T&M) time and material and size of crew with adequate skill set to complete job. • The end product, a Project Management Training Module, would serve as a learning and assessment tool for the Project manager candidate as well as current Project Managers.

Performance Objectives: Objective #1:Using (SBN) Small Business Network , the learner will select each open project in order of booking date (B) Learner will the make initial contact with customer Objective #2:Learner will then survey jobsite to determine which subcontractor to commission (B) Learner will agree on set price for install including per diem if job is 100+ miles from home base and obtain a signed (WFH) Work for Hire. Objective #3:Using MS Excel to create a budget for miscellaneous parts and incidentals

Learner Characteristics: • The target audience for this web-based training will be 3 Installation Senior Technicians and 3 current Project manager from struggling districts in the Midwest region ranging from ages 30-55 employed at Stanley CSS. • The learners will possess basic computer skills to run a desktop and/or laptop PC computer and also to navigate the Internet. Ability to operate a motor vehicle

  8. Learning Context: • The intended instructional setting will be primarily in the workplace setting, the Senior Installers will be working current project being managed by corporate trainers. Current (PM’S) will continue with all assigned projects • A laptop/desktop computer either or both will be company provided with Internet access, will also meet the training requirements. • Work-related responsibilities will not hinder (OT) has been approved by the company not to exceed 3 hours per training day.

  9. Training Module Outline: • Introduction: (a) What does the Online Training Include? The online tutorial consists of three lessons. At the end of each lesson you will be able to practice and reinforce what you’ve learned by completing some practice quizzes or activities. At the end of the training, you will be given additional resources you can use that are available on the Internet. Also, you will be provided instructions on how to submit an example of your cookbook for assessment and any additional feedback about the online training.

Training Module Outline: • Lesson 1: Introduction to (SBN) Small Business Network (a) The learner will be provided with an overview of the main features in (SBN) in a short video and audio presentation. (b) The different toolbars and other features on a (SBN) screen will be highlighted and explained. (c) To reinforce learning, the learner will practice identifying the different components displayed on the screen with a labeling exercise.

  11. Training Module Outline: • Lesson 2: Site Surveying (a) The learner will learn how to correctly survey a jobsite. (b) The learner will learn how to customize the security system to fit each jobsite and identify all hotspots. regarding security coverage and the limitations of the site. (c) The learner will learn how to identify all limitations of the site ie lack of access for wire runs, poor cellular connection. .

Training Module Outline: • Lesson 3: Creating a Spreadsheet for Budgeting (a) The learner will learn about the different types of expense of project from start to finish and to put them into a workable budget via spreadsheet. (b) The learner will learn how to configure cell layouts for each entry. (c) At the conclusion of this lesson, the learner will take a 10 question quiz to review the lesson.

  13. Summary • By completing this online tutorial, Senior Installation Technicians will be able to advance to Project Management, and current Project managers will be able to increase revenue and cut cost of property damage and maximize the installers time and skills. • This training module will serve to increase revenue and limit amount of downtime and wasted resources.
