Reader’s I want to talk to you about this show I watch called House Hunters International on HGTV
It is a reality show that features house hunting in different countries. I love this show because it reminds me of house hunting for a home in Brussels, Belgium when we moved overseas.
My husband doesn’t really like the show, but occasionally he wants to know what happened…
He doesn’t want every single detail of the show, but rather the interesting information like:1) What country are they in?2) What are the houses like?3) What house was finally selected?
This made me think about reading…. …especially when I am telling someone about a book that I read.
I don’t want to give them a play by play of every single plot element…. …but rather focus on the main character and what he/she is trying to do and how the plot is affected because the character or how he/she is affected by the plot.
Readers as you read independently, remember that retelling a story doesn’t have to be a play by play. You can synthesize and analyze characters and their motivations.
