SMART Highlights • Based upon federal Web Infrastructure for Treatment Services (WITS) public domain software designed in 2002 • Deployed in 17 states and counties • Enhanced using cost and code sharing strategies through a national collaborative of member jurisdictions (WCP) • Customized in MD and nationally through IGSR & FEI • Developed as an integrated consent-driven electronic health record • Designed to share assessment, treatment, case management, criminal justice, and drug court data statewide
SMART Benefits for MD State Agencies • Statewide collaboration in real-time while meeting federal and state confidentiality regulations • Interagency data repository for performance reporting within and between agencies • Real-time data exchange with existing data systems • Client- and event-driven records support agency daily operations and decision making • Cross-agency data can be warehoused for secondary analysis and research • Enhancements can be shared at no additional development cost to MD
