What is Academic Advisement? • Advising is teaching. • Advising empowers students to make informed decisions. • Advising supports student persistence, retention, and graduation.
Advisement vs. Registration • At CSI, advisement and registration are two separate processes. • Advisement entails meeting with an advisor to discuss the progress you have been making towards completing your degree requirements. • Registration occurs when you actually select the courses you will enroll in for the upcoming semester.
Take Advantage of Early Advisement March is Early Advising Month for Fall registration! Registration begins in April. • Students are strongly encouraged to take • advantage of the Early Advisement Period. October is Early Advising Month for Spring registration! Registration begins in November. Remember, the early bird always catches the worm! Contact your assigned advisor for educational and career planning discussions.
